GREEN RIVER — The Golden Hour Senior Center celebrated St. Patrick’s Day today with casino games and a delicious lunch.
There was lots of green and laughter as everyone enjoyed games and a delicious meal. The seniors partook in several casino-style games, betting poker chips for a prize. They played Texas hold’em, poker, blackjack, roulette, craps and more.
The three people who collected the most chips walked away with a prize. The first place prize was a large cheese and meat sampler, the second place prize was a grilling set, and the third place prize was a touch free soap dispenser.
After the games ended, the seniors gathered in the cafeteria and enjoyed an Irish-themed lunch. The first course was a baked potato bar with all the fixings, and the second course was corned beef and cabbage.
Each person of legal drinking age also got to enjoy one beer. For dessert, GHSC served bread pudding.
Members of the Hole in the Wall Gang helped serve the food. Additionally, this was the first opportunity the senior center’s members got to meet and chat with Golden Hour’s new executive director, Ruth Lauritzen.
